Communications costs getting cheaper
“Consumers and businesses globally are paying on average 18% less for entry-level information and communication technology (ICT) services than they were two years ago – and more than 50% less for high-speed Internet connections”, says ITU.
However, developing countries still pay a much higher price for communications, as a proportion of overall income. Cheaper broadband is making some inroads into bringing down costs, but there is still some way to go. See the full Economist report here.
